1979 MGB ROADSTER - MANUAL - 18,527 MILES SHOWING

This particular MGB started life in the US market as a Rubber Nose roadster and delivered to a Californian resident in June 1979.

We hold the original handbook and "Passport to Service" showing original owner's name, address and vehicle details.

Bought to Australia in 1998 and converted firstly to RHD, but also rebuilt into a 1971 Australian/UK look roadster which had quite a different dash and grill to it's original form. We hold a copy of the Automotive Engineer's Report covering the change to RHD.

We hold evidence of the Federal Government's Vehicle Import Approval # 24266/26 and dated the 29th of July 1998.

Also in the conversion was an uncommon revert to two windscreen wipers (US LHD cars had three) and wire wheels in lieu of the original steel wheels. All that was done to the car was to try and make it look and behave like and original RHD UK delivered 1971 roadster.

Another nice conversion to this MGB is the adoption of an early Mk 1 style roof and frame, which is easy to operate and allows more soft luggage space behind the front seats when the roof is down.

We hold a flash drive with many photos of this nut & bolt restoration and conversion.

Powered by a 1.8 Litre 4 cylinder engine, it produced when new 67.5Kw and 141Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox + o/drive on 3rd and 4th gears (effectively being a 6 ratio gearbox). Performance figures suggested at the time 0-100kph in 11.9 secs and a top speed near 170kph.

Recent further work and amendments involve the following:-

* New clutch slave cylinder (AP brand)

* 12 volt outlet (for GPS unit ) fitted

* Battery isolator fitted - behind driver's seat

* Valance 7 supporting bars

* New tonneau cover & soft top (fit LHS windscreen clip first then RHS)
